Friendship: Individuals and families meet with an international student once a month for a meal or other activity. Invite then to join you in an activity you are already doing or plan something special to do together. FP Info sheet
ESL TEACHER & ASSISTANT
ESL Teacher or Assistant: Assist or teach at IFI’s English Conversation Club, which meets on or near the campus on Saturday mornings during the school year. You don’t need to be an expert in teaching English. Volunteers who are native English speakers and have a desire to help others understand spoken and idiomatic English are needed to serve as teachers and teachers’ assistants. Housing (Short Term): Welcome an international student into your home for up to 4 days upon their initial arrival to Columbus; provide a private room, meals, and transportation to and from campus on weekdays. Although the greatest need is in July and August, some students request help in June, December or January. You may pick up students from the airport or ask someone else to bring them to your home. Housing (Long Term): Offer a room in your home to a student for a semester or longer. You may offer this free of charge or ask for rent.
The International Moms’ Group (IMG) is an outreach to international moms and their young children. It offers opportunities for the moms to form friendships with American Christians. IFI helps international moms adjust to their new surroundings and care for their families in a new culture. Learn more…
INTERNATIONAL WIVES’ GROUP
There is a Bible study that meets during the day on a weekday for the wives of students. Help is needed with driving wives, watching children, and helping with Bible discussion time.
